- 1 vanilla bean, split and seeds scraped
- Whipped Cream:
- 3/4 cup (375 ml) heavy cream
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 3/4 cup (45 ml) sugar
Instructions:
Step 1: Preheat and Prepare the Pan
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Position the rack in the center.
- Grease a 20-cm (8-inch) springform pan, line the bottom with parchment paper, and set aside.
Step 2: Prepare the Dry Ingredients
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
Step 3: Make the Meringue
- In a separate bowl, beat egg whites with cream of tartar until soft peaks form.
- Gradually add 1/2 cup of sugar, beating until stiff peaks form. Set aside.
Step 4: Cream the Butter and Sugar
- In another bowl, beat softened butter with the remaining sugar, egg yolks, and vanilla extract until light and fluffy.
